Shawn “The Flurry” Murray has been an athlete all his life. Besides boxing he also excelled at hockey and football, playing both at a high, junior level. He discovered boxing when playing junior hockey in Ayr, Ontario. A teammate suggested boxing as an extra workout. Shawn tried it, was hooked, and decided to focus solely on his boxing.
Boxing is a sport which is based on personal responsibility and accountability. This is something Shawn believes strongly.

Shawn is trained by Syd Vanderpool, with his strength and conditioning being managed by Craig Bongelli. His health support staff include Julie Stark (RMT) and Alyssa Coppolino (Holistic Nutritionist). Shawn also gives back to the SydFIT Health community, not only training amateur boxers but acting as a mentor for the youth at the gym.
